The red brick Hovell Street home was keenly sought after in one of four auctions conducted online by agents Stean Nicholls due to the extension of the regional NSW COVID-19 lockdown.

Mr Betteridge and his late wife, Julie, and their children had a long association with the four-bedroom home, which has Murray Pine floorboards and high ceilings as other features.

"I'm incredibly happy with the result," he said.

"Stean Nicholls were nothing but professional and very thorough in their marketing and research.

"Best of luck to purchasers who I understand are a young family.

"I hope they create as many fond memories as Julie and I had in that house.

"It is a beautiful home."

Mr Betteridge was the long-time operator of Sweethearts Pizza shop in Dean Street and earlier this year announced he was planning to stand for a return to Albury Council, where he previously served two terms.

Three other properties sold by Stean Nicholls were all located in the sought after East Albury area.

A four-bedroom home in Kingfisher Court in the Eastern View Estate sold for close to $1 million, a three-bedroom home in Saunders Avenue sold for $655,000 and the latest home to be put on the market, in Bernhardt Street, sold for $605,000.

Stean Nicholls' Jack Stean said lockdown didn't put a dampener on the market.

"We had good bidding on all properties," he said.

"Buyers found (the online platform) really easy to use.

"They had the added comfort of being in their own homes without everyone watching.

"Sure, it didn't have the theatre of a street auction and we want to be back doing them as soon as we can, but it all still worked.

"It allowed everyone to have everyone an opportunity to buy and all four sales exceeded vendor expectations."

Meanwhile, a Stanley Street red brick home opposite the Commercial Club, which has been in the same ownership for 50 years, was passed in at auction for $900,000 yesterday.

Agent McGrath Albury-Wodonga's Gabrielle Douglas confirmed there were six bidders registered for the online auction and up to 20 other people able to watch on.

Negotiations are continuing with interested parties.
