The comment followed member for Benambra Bill Tilley backing up radio 2AY breakfast host Kylie King who told him on-air on Wednesday she had received information that Melbourne COVID shot seekers had travelled to Wodonga to be immunised.
"I believe there is substantive evidence to that effect," Mr Tilley said.
"It is unacceptable for people coming out of Melbourne and seeking a vaccination.
"It's almost as if the government is willing to see the COVID hit the border by stealth."
Mr Tilley is concerned the online booking form for vaccinations at government hubs allows people to travel up to 250 kilometres for a dose.
He also believes wording that patients can journey for inoculations "provided that the distance travelled and the time taken is no more than reasonably necessary" should be tightened.
The Border Mail put his concerns to the health department and asked if a tighter radius or postcodes would be considered for vaccine hub bookings.
It did not address those matters, with a spokesperson saying "we urge all Victorians to go online and book an appointment at a location near to them".
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Victorians are permitted to travel more than five kilometres for vaccination, but only if the distance and time taken are no more than reasonably necessary," the person said.
"Any changes limiting the distance Melburnians can travel for vaccination are subject to public health advice."
Neither the health department or Albury Wodonga Health could say whether Melburnians had received vaccines at the High Street hub.
Meanwhile, Wodonga Upper House MP Tim Quilty has blasted the state government for requiring Victorians returning from interstate to be vaccinated.
"I am not anti-vaccination," Mr Quilty said.
"I have had my two shots, and I think vaccination is a good idea.
"However, I firmly believe everyone has the right to make this decision for themselves.
"It is a breach of the Victorian charter of human rights to compel someone to undergo a medical treatment.
"The government is setting up a vaccine apartheid system, where the unvaccinated will be excluded from society."
