Firefighters were called to Hibiscus Crescent in West Albury about 10.40pm on Sunday.
A white Ford XR6 was well alight when they arrived at the scene.
It took an hour for the fire to be extinguished as the fuel was burnt off.
The incident was filmed on a CCTV camera at a nearby home.
The footage appeared to show the car being driven into the street before the lights were turned off.
A flash of light erupts from the front of the vehicle after a short time and a person appears to be visible while running from the car.
The Ford quickly went up in flames.
