Write Around the Murray, online - watch from home, Saturday, September 18
The organisers of the Border's Write Around the Murray were determined COVID-19 would not stop the literary festival from running this year! There will be four online discussions held on Saturday: Creating Captivating Children's Books at 12pm, Historical Frictions at 3pm, Seismic Shifts at 4.30pm and Humour & Heart at 1.30pm. Take you pick or join all four! Bookings are essential. Go to https://www.writearoundthemurray.org.au/
RUN OF FIVE
At your leisure
Albury residents have been snapped back into lockdown, but there is a silver lining for those who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. While people who have had one or no doses must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason, Albury residents who are fully vaccinated can attend an outdoor gathering of up to five people for exercise or outdoor recreation so long as all of those gathering are aged 16 or older and are fully vaccinated. Of course this activity is suitable for others; if you're in regional Victoria, you can too at this stage.
APPRECIATE ART
At your leisure
Allow art to open your eyes, mind and heart! No matter which side of the border you live on, you'll be able to enjoy a video exhibition from Wodonga artist Monique Barrett. With her debut exhibition stumped by numerous lockdowns, Ms Barrett decided to create a virtual tour of her exhibition, 'Faces'. Her bright, yet dark paintings will make you ponder what makes a face. The concept was born from Ms Barrett's own challenges reading facial expressions due to her autism. You can watch it by searching 'Faces Exhibition Virtual Tour' on YouTube.
BOOK A BALLOON
Whenever you can
Are you looking for something to shake you out of your COVID-funk? Why not get a breath of fresh air with Goldrush Ballooning's new canola flight? It's time to book this popular tour now, because canola paddocks will soon finish flowering and you don't want to miss seeing the expansive bright yellow fields from a high up vantage point.
BACKYARD PICNIC
At your leisure
Get the kids out of the house - without leaving the house - with a backyard picnic! Pull out the picnic blanket, cook up some zucchini slice, get out the camping cutlery. It's time for you and the kids to have some fun. If you don't have a backyard, what about a car boot picnic? A change of scenery could stir a fresh change to routine thoughts.
VACCINATE AND TEST
Call the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398, ASAP
We've said it before, but we'll say it again: NOW is the time to book your COVID-19 vaccination. NSW Health also says Albury residents need to come forward for testing to assess the size of the current outbreak and when the city might be released from lockdown.
