Chooka Parker was stuck at Wentworth on the NSW-Victorian border last week after SA authorities stalled in approving a travel exemption he sought on August 9.
Following his case being detailed in Saturday's Border Mail, Mr Parker got an email that day stating he could travel to his parents' home in Murray Bridge.
"It's great to be back and have a bit more freedom," he said on Tuesday.

The musician, who appeared on television show Australia's Got Talent, said there were many others still waiting to return to SA.
"I'm very thankful to be back but there are 4000 people trying to get from NSW to SA," Mr Parker said.
"I hope some kind of protocol can be put in place.
"It's a very stressful position to be put in and there should be some way to solve the problem."
