Albury Local Court has heard that George Edward Webb-Rose played a more serious role in the assault near the Beer Deluxe pub in mid-2020.

He, like a fourth man sentenced previously, escaped with a 12-month community corrections order, along with a $1000 fine.

But in addition to the affray, to which he and the two other men pleaded guilty, Webb-Rose was handed the sentence also over a separate incident just days earlier that resulted in him pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Webb-Rose, now 20, of Wodonga, appeared before magistrate Richard Funston in Albury Local Court, along with Lavington teenager Liam Rodney Emerson, 19, who was handed a six-month community corrections order.

The third man, Matthew Ingis, 20, who appeared via a video link to his new home at Lara in Victoria, received the same sentence as Emerson.

Webb-Rose's lawyer, Bronte Winn, said it was conceded that the combined offences committed by her client meant the threshold for a jail sentence was "well and truly crossed".

Solicitor Angus Lingham, for Emerson, said his client did not have a criminal record and his involvement in the attack was restricted to one incident where he kicked the victim.

"Clearly my client's actions did not result in injury."

Mr Lingham said the three others in the group kicked the victim to the face, resulting in a jaw fracture that later required surgery.

The court was told the victim was set upon by the group about 1am as he walked past them in Kiewa Street on July 19, 2020.

He was heading towards Beer Deluxe when Webb-Rose punched him to the face, then another, outside the National Australia Bank's front entrance.

Soon after he was taken to the ground and repeatedly kicked.
