While competition isn't yet permitted by the Victorian Government, training has been given the green light.
That means children aged between four and 15 will be heading to Pat Parker Athletics Track, opposite White Box Rise, for their first track and field session of 2021/22.
"It's fantastic for the kids to have something to do," secretary Anthea Mulholland said.
"Most of them haven't even been able to go back to school so it will get them out of the house, off the couch and get a different mindset going.
"It's really important and it's something they're lacking at the moment.
"Kids are finding that being able to get out and see their friends is really difficult.
"Little Aths is awesome for that because you get to sit together, work out how you're going to do your events and in between, you get a little bit of fitness."
ALSO IN SPORT:
Participants will need to check in by QR code from 8:45am for a 9am start.
"It'll be a very skill-based session," Mulholland said.
"That will help kids that haven't come before to understand the basic concepts of what's required for each event.
"We're there for anybody, all abilities and we can do modified programs for multi-class athletes.
"We can also help kids that are looking to move on further in their sport and take it a little bit more seriously.
"Our aim is personal bests. We don't have the kids compete against each other, every kid is there to compete against themselves and to get better in each event."
