That heartening news came as NSW recorded 13 deaths and 1083 locally-acquired cases over the same period.
Twelve of those who died were in Sydney, while one was linked to an aged care home at Dubbo.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said Sunday's case number was welcome, given it continued a trend of overall figures declining.
She said the signs were positive that the state had passed its peak.
NSW Health representative Dr Jeremy McAnulty was more circumspect when asked if the state was a downward trajectory.

"It is certainly very encouraging, the numbers today are fewer than the case numbers we had yesterday," he said.
"We do like to see several days before we can a trend, but certainly cases overall in the last week haven't been going up.
"They have certainly stabilised in many areas and appear to be dropping in some areas."
That instance was linked to a previously reported case, but contact tracing is still being done to determine the most recently diagnosed person's community exposure.
