Bosley was set to coach again next season before Lions officials recently informed him that the club was keen to appoint a playing coach.
President Jesse Kent said it was a tough decision for the club to make and was grateful for the contribution of Bosley for the past two years.

"We just felt a playing coach was probably the best option going forward," Kent said.
"Craig did a great job under trying circumstances with COVID making it tough on everybody.
"He landed some handy recruits with Jack Chesser, Xavier Cannizzaro and Jackson Frohling all good pick-ups.
"Craig has got a lot of respect at Culcairn being a premiership player in 2007 and a premiership coach of the reserves.
"But after four years of having a non-playing coach we have opted to go in a different direction."
