Albury Wodonga Health said Murrumbidgee Local Health District informed them this morning about the positive case in Albury and reminder Border residents to come forward for vaccination.
Executive director of public health Lucie Shanahan said contact tracing had already started and was continuing today lead by MLHD.
"My understanding is that the new case in Albury has been isolating at home and hasn't been infectious in the community," she said.
"It really is a very timely reminder for everyone to be vigilant, we can't assume that COVID is not in our communities.
"It really is a great reminder for everyone to make sure they are wearing masks, socially distancing, practicing good hand hygiene and really importantly coming forward for vaccination for both doses."
