Waterways stocked with rainbow trout include Allans Flat Dredge Hole in Yackandandah and Glenrowan Recreational Reserve Lake in Glenrowan.
The stockings are part of a Victorian Fisheries Authority goal to stock 10 million fish this year.
IN OTHER NEWS:
In addition to the rainbow trout, 2,000 stonkers weighing between four to five kilos have been stocked in the Goulburn River between Eildon and Molesworth.
The goal is funded by recreational fishing licence fees and Go Fishing Victoria, a $35 million government plan to get more people fishing, more often.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes welcomed the stocking of fish.
"These school holidays offer regional families a great opportunity to re-explore Victoria's north, and our ongoing investment into fish restocking provides a fun activity for all keen anglers, no matter their experience," she said.
