On Monday NSW hit a milestone with 60 per cent of the eligible adult population fully vaccinated.
Victoria is trailing behind, no doubt due to increased vaccine allocation to NSW during the worst days of the Delta outbreak, but is at a respectable 47 per cent fully vaccinated.
Within weeks, NSW is set to hit 70 per cent vaccination and restrictions will ease for those who are double dosed. Victoria should be just a couple of weeks behind. The end of arduous restrictions is finally in sight.
The NSW government's three-phase roadmap out of lockdown gives us hope of a return to relative normality, the likes of which we haven't seen in close to two years.
At 80 per cent double dose vaccination in NSW, a target that should be hit by the end of October, community sport will be able to resume for those who are vaccinated.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Hairdressers, gyms and hospitality venues will be able to reopen with a one person per four square metre density limit.
Caps on weddings and funerals will be removed, with just density limits determining guest list sizes.
Come Christmas, Victorians should be able to celebrate with 30 people at home, while there will be no limit to the number of people able to gather in NSW homes.
The NSW roadmap, and inklings of what's to come in Victoria's roadmap instills hope, something we've all be sorely missing lately.
But for this hope to become a reality we must act now.
While the roadmap out of lockdown paints a glorious picture of life post-restrictions, life does not look as rosy for those who chose not to get vaccinated.
In fact, NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro warned unvaccinated residents in regions not in subject to stay-at-home orders, their freedoms would actually be restricted by the introduction of phase one of the roadmap out of lockdown.
So don't get left behind, get out and get vaccinated now to protect our community and to ensure you can enjoy the hard earned freedoms we're all so desperate for.
