Two women were inside a home on Banks Street, off Captain Cook Drive, about 5pm on Tuesday.
They heard a knock on the door.
A 19-year-old opened the door and was confronted by the three women who asked to use the bathroom.
They entered and demanded the woman's phone and her password while she was being punched and kicked.
The attack left her with minor injuries.
The trio left the house, but police believe the same group of women later returned to the area.
A 27-year-old man was asleep inside his house on nearby Orton Place about 10.30pm when he heard a knock.
He opened the door and was confronted by the women, who forced their way inside and ransacked the property.
Police established crime scenes at both homes, which are only about 400 metres apart from each other.
The women were described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance.
