Finlayson was keen to relocate to Adelaide for family reasons and signed a three-year deal at Alberton on Wednesday.
The Giants will receive the Power's future third-round draft pick in exchange for the key forward.
Originally from Culcairn, Finlayson has played 66 matches for the Giants since his debut in 2017 including the 2019 grand final loss against Richmond.
The 25-year-old has booted 90 career goals and has averaged almost two goals a match for the last three seasons.

The 196cm tall has also spent time in the ruck for the Giants.
"Jeremy has impressed us during his time at the Giants as a dangerous tall forward due to his athleticism and ability to impact the scoreboard," said Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps.
"He offers us great flexibility as a tall forward, second ruck option and adds balance to our list profile."
