Previously known as one of the most reliable defenders in the competition, Lieschke was thrown into the ruck by coach Lucas Mellier with the Giants lacking tall options.
LIeschke responded with an outstanding season and thrived on the freedom of playing on the ball.
In a thrilling count, Lieschke polled 33 votes to narrowly stave off the challenge of Nick Kohlhagen on 29 and join his father on the honour roll.
Kohlhagen's father, Brett, was a dual best and fairest winner at Walla.
Nick's uncles, Derek and Luke were also both four-time winners with the Hoppers before merging with Rand-Walbundrie.
The ultra-consistent Chris Duck finished third on 28 with cousin Jack Duck on 26.
Thurgoona recruit Luke Gerecke was fifth with 25.

Lieschke said he was shocked to take out the Giants' highest individual honour.
"It was quite unexpected to be honest," Lieschke said.
"I didn't think I would be in the running but it was a fairly close count and a number of team-mates could have easily won.
"Spending most of the season in the ruck I guess I was involved in the play a lot more than compared to when I played in defence.
"It was something different but I really enjoyed the switch.
"I definitely rated it one of my best season's from a personal point of view.
"I'm already looking forward to playing again next year and Lucas has been really good as coach."
In other grades, Lewis McRae was successful in the reserves ,Ben Hoffman won the thirds and Ed Kreutzberger took out the fourths best and fairest awards.
Sophia Kohlhagen won the top honour in A-grade netball.
