Corowa-Rutherglen has confirmed it was speaking to Richmond defender and former player Ryan Garthwaite, prior to his delisting last Friday.
Garthwaite played 14 games during five seasons with the Tigers, including five last season.
As of Monday morning, the Roos hadn't had a chance to speak to the 23-year-old tall defender since Richmond's decision.
"We'd spoken to Ryan in the lead-up, but obviously there's a lot of water to go under the bridge from his point of view, he will need to work out where he wants to go from here," Roos' head of football Craig Spencer offered.

"Ryan is still probably looking at an AFL career, I guess."
The Roos are targeting key defenders and while the club is obviously hoping the 192cm Garthwaite continues at the elite level, he'd be ideal.
"He would be a key piece in the puzzle for us," Spencer revealed.
"We need players to go against those big forwards for Wangaratta."
