The city's double dose rate went from 61.4 to 72.5 per cent in the space of a week amid an outbreak of cases and NSW government's rules preventing access to businesses and other settings to those not having two jabs of the COVID vaccine.

Albury's single dose rate sits at an impressive 94 6 per cent after a sluggish initial take up.

Cr Henk van de Ven, who publicly raised the need for residents to go harder on vaccination, said the weekly increase was heartening.

"At one point we were trailing the rest of the state for various reasons, one of them being complacency and the other being vaccinations directed to Sydney," he said.

Berrigan is on the verge of becoming the first southern NSW council to be 80 per cent double dosed at 79.1 with Federation close behind at 77.7.

Greater Hume's double dose coverage also recorded a double digit increase in seven days, 59.1 to 69.9 per cent.

All North-East councils are above 95 per cent single dose except Wodonga (94.1) and within sight of 80 per cent double jabbed.

But Wodonga has the most work to do sitting at 70.6 per cent.
