Police have issued more than $16,000 in fines to a group of people who attended an illegal gathering in Myrtleford.

Officers were alerted to the incident on Elgin Street about 11pm on Friday.
Police attended the property and found nine people breaching the Chief Health Officer's directions.
Sergeant Romina McEwan said the group had been at a hotel and gathered at the home, and left after being spoken to.
The people were residents of Wangaratta, Whorouly, Rutherglen and Myrtleford.
