Nineteen hockey players from Albury-Wodonga have been named in the Southern Sports Academy squad.

That cohort represents almost two-thirds of the group which will benefit from physical training, health screening and education.
"Southern Sports is allowing these athletes to reach their peak without having to leave Albury," head coach Doug Agar said.
"We've got players in the squad who are looking to play state or even go further so we're looking to give them a grounding in how to deal with the media, how to get a sponsorship deal and skills they can put to use in the world of work as well."
"I love the competitive element of hockey and I've made a lot of friends playing," Abigail Wilkinson said.
"I would love to play hockey for the state."

"We played in Sydney and every time we scored a goal, the adrenaline rush was amazing," fellow 17-year-old Brodie Hamilton added.
"I want to experience that again.
"Before I joined the academy, I weighed about 96kg but they've helped me to lose weight and I'm actually happy with how I look now."
The other Albury-Wodonga players in the squad are Blake Barber, Eliza Brown, Jayden Clissold, Campbell Cull, Shannon Dicks, Lillian Eggleton, Simone Flanagan, Halle Hicks, Liam Hill, Avie Liley, Georgia Martin, Hamish Morrison, Jamie Peck, Ethan Semple, Savannah Somerfield, Nick Wilkinson and Tilly Willinck.
