In a letter to parents, Lavington Public School Principal Jarrod Lyons said a member of the school community had tested positive to COVID.
"Our school will be non-operational effective immediately for the on-site attendance of students and staff to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning," he said.
"All staff and students are asked to self-isolate until you receive further advice."
Home learning resources are available.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Across the border, Wodonga South Primary School Principal Clint Eckhardt told parents a confirmed COVID case attended the school on October 15.
Wangaratta High School Principal Michelle Bootes said a confirmed COVID case attended the school on October, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
"Our school will be closed on Thursday, 21 October as a precaution to identify students or staff who may have had close contact with the case," both principals said.
"Once that review is complete, we will let you know if you or your child has been identified as a potential primary close contact (PCC). You or your child must get tested and stay at home.
"This means that, until you hear further from me or the Department of Health (DH), students and staff who attended on Friday, 15 October must avoid public places and only leave home for brief periods for necessary activities that include:
- exercise
- caregiving to family members when no alternative is available
- necessary medical appointments where no alternative is available (such as telehealth)
- shopping for necessary items, only where no one else in the household can perform this task and no alternative is available (such as delivery).
The principals said if the school does not contact you be October 21 to say your child has been identified as a close contact, your child should return to school on October 22.
The three venues are the latest in a string of border schools forced to close their doors after someone who had COVID attended.
