The Aussie Backyard Bird Count, wherever you are, Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24
If you haven't already, now is the time to head outside, put your listening ears on and keep you beady eyes peeled - how many birds can you spot? This is the last weekend of the week-long citizen science event to survey Australia's bird populations. This year is the eighth count and you could help make it the biggest count yet! Join thousands of people around the country in exploring their backyard, local park or favourite outdoor space to learn more about the birds that live where people live.
RACE DAY
Spring Carnival Race Day, Albury Racecourse, 16-46 Fallon Street, Saturday, October 23, gates open at 11am
Spring racing season is well and truly upon us! So pull out your pretty frocks, don your sharpest suit and get ready for the fun and fanfare. The first race kicks off at 2.04pm and the last race is at 5.39pm, so there's plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine and atmosphere. Tickets are limited due to capacity limits and all attendees must be double vaccinated to attend.
PAINT PERFECTION
The Resilience Art Project, Bright Art Gallery & Cultural Centre, 28 Mountbatten Avenue, Bright, Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24
Alpine Shire and Bright Art Gallery are collaborating to bring the community a two-day workshop on watercolour painting. The event is part of a bushfire resilience program, but it's said to also help you build stronger relationships and new art skills along the way. Learn the right techniques and approach and then show off your work on the family fridge.
HIGH TEA
High Tea at the Museum, Jindera Pioneer Museum, 118 Urana St, Jindera, Sunday October 24, 2pm to 4pm
How does tea, cake and live music set against a historic backdrop sound for a lazy Sunday afternoon? Take a step backwards in time as you enter the museum before finishing off your tour with a well earned pumpkin scone or sandwich.

Music in the Gardens: Mia Grace & The Aviators - Acoustic Duet, Albury Botanic Gardens, Sunday, October 24, 1pm to 3pm
Enjoy this special performance play a repertoire of acoustic tunes and songs. Pack a picnic and bring your family and friends to this free open-air concert staged at Albury's beautiful Botanic Gardens.

Sport is back on the Border this weekend with Cricket Albury-Wodonga launching its provincial competition. There's a total of 22 matches taking place across Saturday and Sunday from Albury to Corowa, so get ready for a spectator marathon!
