On July 27, council resolved to seek community feedback on a plan for an off-leash area at Wallace Park, Beechworth, amid clashes between user groups.
Feedback was sought on an alternative off-leash area at Wallace Park, acknowledging "the risks and challenges" of the current area in the Baarmutha Park precinct.
The signatories are petitioning to "confirm the use of Baarmutha Park as a designated off-leash dog walking area, sporting days excepted", which "will continue regardless of the development of other off-leash areas".
The group also wants safety concerns about uses of Baarmutha Park and any expert advice, including "the research conducted into said safety concerns and any other reports commissioned by Indigo Shire in relation to this matter" made public.
