Police spotted a gold Mazda 626 with just one rear tyre being driven along the Sturt Highway at Gumly Gumly on Sunday evening.
The driver was stopped just before 7pm, as checks revealed the sedan hadn't been registered since September last year and the plates didn't match the car.
The registration plates were allegedly stolen from another vehicle at Canberra Airport on Sunday.
The 49-year-old ACT man behind the wheel was arrested and taken to Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing before being transferred to Wagga police station.
He was then charged with a string of traffic and property offences.
