The case breakdown of the 36 cases in the MLHD to 8pm on Wednesday night also include two cases in Greater Hume, two cases in Griffith LGA, and one case in the Lockhart LGA.
There has been a total of 670 cases and six deaths recorded in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.
These include 518 in Albury LGA, 25 in Hilltops LGA, 32 in the Greater Hume LGA, 15 in Edward River LGA, 33 in Murray River LGA, 11 in Federation LGA, 12 in Berrigan LGA, 14 in Wagga Wagga LGA, two in Coolamon LGA, two in Murrumbidgee LGA, one in Cootamundra-Gundagai, and four in Griffith LGA and one is a resident of the Lockhart LGA.
On Wednesday, there were just 21 new cases across both Albury and Wodonga. Eight new cases of COVID were recorded in Wodonga and 13 in Albury.
In the Albury Wodonga Health catchment, there were a total of 30 new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday night.
These include 20 new cases in Wodonga, 5 in Wangaratta and 5 in Indigo.
The health service said most of the active cases in Wodonga and Wangaratta are household contacts.
In total, there are 436 active COVID-19 cases across the Albury Wodonga Health catchment.
On Wednesday, the Border saw 596 COVID-19 tests and 259 vaccines administered at the Wodonga Vaccination Hub.
The Albury Wodonga Health Community COVID Consult Clinic is currently caring for 334 COVID-positive individuals from across the border region.
There are currently nine COVID-positive patients in hospital, none of whom are in intensive care.
Albury Wodonga Health said earlier this week while lower case numbers were pleasing, the Border and North East's COVID case numbers may not have peaked yet.
The health department confirmed on Thursday the state is managing 17,674 active cases.

There are 660 Victorians in hospital, of whom 114 are in intensive care including 78 on ventilators.
Another 50,180 tests were processed on Wednesday and 16,209 vaccines administered at state-run hubs.
Victorian health authorities have tweaked the state's vaccination reporting to reflect vaccine uptake in all people aged above 12.
About 81 per cent of people aged above 12 are fully vaccinated.
The new cases were recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday from 94,661 tests.
The figures mark a jump of 118 infections - a day after Premier Dominic Perrottet warned to expect daily cases and hospitalisations to increase.
