O'Sullivan, who succeeds Mick Raynes at Murrayfield, will continue to play next season while taking greater responsibility off the field.

"The Steamers are doing really well and I wanted to be more involved and help move the club forward again this year," he said.

"I'm a pretty positive person and I've been involved in rugby my whole life so I know the game.

"I've played in quite a few different areas and have seen the ways different clubs have managed things.

"A lot of the committee this year are from the playing group so it'll be really good to get more involvement from that side of things.

"The main benefit is that I've got a really good team around me. I think this group will work together well."

Stephen McMahon will serve as vice-president, with David Benson junior president, Emma Clements club secretary and George Woods treasurer.

On the field, O'Sullivan feels the Steamers are in a strong position.

"The way the season finished up was hard for everybody but we made some real progress, especially the women's team," he said.

"The way they played this year was a huge improvement and it'll be good to see them keep pushing that forward.

"We only fielded one men's team two years ago, so to put two teams on the field again last year shows how we've grown player numbers.

"We have a top-quality coaching staff and we hope they'll be applying again this year."
