The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League powerhouse traditionally hosts a grand final function, but COVID forced the cancellation of the season before finals could be played.

Buckley's resume is comparable with almost anyone to have played, which includes a Brownlow Medal and North Smith Medal (2003), as well as six-time Collingwood best and fairest.

He then coached the Pies for a decade, stepping down after they defeated eventual premiers Melbourne by 17 points on the Queen's Birthday weekend.

"It will be great to have Nathan at the luncheon," Tigers' co-president Brendan Brown said.

"Every year at the function we support a charity and a large portion of the funds that we generate will be donated to TPI (Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Veterans)."

With COVID restrictions easing, a crowd of 250 is allowed to attend Albury's SS&A Club on December 17.
