The livewire polled 161 votes from Joe Richards (125) and Callum Moore (119).
Moore claimed the O and M's top award on Friday night in polling 17 votes with Richards again the runner-up on 16.
Pre-count fancy Ankers was fourth with 14.
"It means a lot, it's a really high standard league and a high standard club," Ankers explained.
"We've got a lot of good players who would be more than deserving to win it and I have to thank my team-mates, they helped me a lot this year, I sat on the outside a bit and they fed me the ball."
The 25-year-old excited the league on his debut, combining his blistering pace and finishing skills.
"It's probably a different role for me this year, I was probably more on the outside than what I have previously," he revealed.
"I probably hit the scoreboard more than I have previously."
Ankers missed two of the 13 rounds, which was shortened and then called off without finals due to COVID.
He played a one-off game with junior club Federal Demons in the Central Australian Football League, where he's still based in Alice Springs, while the other was due to COVID restrictions.
It's his sixth club best and fairest after snaring three at Federal and two with Northern Territory Thunder.
He has also won the Central Australian league medal.
"To say you're in career best form puts a ceiling on things and puts a limit on what you can and can't do, I like to think I improved on the year before and I'll improve again next year," he offered when quizzed if it was his best ever year.
Meanwhile, Chris Knowles claimed the reserves best and fairest (53 votes) from Daniel Saunders (43), while Braeden Marjanovic (105) snared the thirds' top award from Daniel Tidball (77).
And in A grade netball, centre Issy Byrne (48) won from Hannah Grady (36).
