Murray United's Eli Wilson has been selected in the School Sport Victoria under-12 boys squad.
The left-footed midfielder has been with the club since 2016 and shows maturity well above his years.
"Eli's been in our under-12s for longer than I can remember," Murray's technical director Adam Carty said.
"He's a grown-up man in a kid's body in terms of his football.
"He works hard at it, like an older player might.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"He's got a good voice on him, tries to pull the strings and he mimics a lot of his heroes in terms of how they talk on the field.
"I can't think of too many other kids at that age with the same level of passion.
"Most players have their ups and downs at training but I don't think he has an off button!
"It's a big deal for him to make this squad and he's been training with Melbourne City as well.
"Eli's a pocket rocket and to be picked from the whole of the state, as a country kid, is a real credit to him."
