Sarah Bryan had arrived at the Public House bar in Albury's Dean Street with her boyfriend.
Albury Local Court magistrate Miranda Moody told Bryan on Tuesday her actions were "disgraceful" and a "dangerous way to behave".
IN OTHER NEWS:
Defence lawyer Jaimee Simonsen said Bryan, 20, was "clearly intoxicated".
Further, Bryan claimed she didn't realise what she was holding was made out of glass and, also, that it had "slipped from her fingers".
Ms Moody said the fact the victim bled meant she had no choice but to impose a conviction.
"I don't believe she didn't think it was glass," she said.
"I didn't come down in the last shower. This was no accident."
Bryan, who pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, arrived at the bar on July 17 about 8.30pm.
Soon after, the victim approached Bryan's boyfriend, a friend and former colleague, to say hello.
Bryan approached the victim about 10.50pm, tapping her on the shoulder. She spoke briefly about her boyfriend, then the victim turned back to her friends.
"Bryan raised her right hand and threw the contents of the glass over the victim and then threw the glass at the back of the victim's head," police told the court.
Bryan denied the assault when interviewed by police on August 28, a stance she maintained even after being shown the bar's CCTV footage.
She was convicted and placed on a 12-month community corrections order.
