Gordon snared an invite to contest the $15,000 event at Howlong Golf Resort.
"I'm hoping I can make the halfway cut for starters," he suggested as the field is cut from the 32 pros to 16 after the first six-hole stage.
"If I end up playing well, it gets some ranking points to get into other events.
"I'm playing NSW Open qualifiers shortly in Dubbo and Swan Hill."
Gordon, who did his traineeship at Howlong under Travis Merritt before moving along the Murray River, is capable of firing low scores as shown by his 10-under par 62 at Tocumwal earlier this year.
He's also shot a handful of other sensational scores, ranging from nine to seven-under in recent times.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Depending on which six holes you get, there's always one or two birdie chances and if you can jag another one somewhere else, you're probably sitting pretty good, I would think," he said of his former home course.
