The Rotary Club of Bellbridge-Lake Hume has joined with the Rotary Club of Albury North to plan an event starting and ending at Ebden Reserve.

Ride director Colin Maginnity said the ride's growth over 20 years had been more than their small club could sustain.

"Bellbridge-Lake Hume started off with 88 riders, and now, the riders could be anywhere from 300 to 700," he said.

"It's really great Albury North have come on board because we do struggle for manpower on the day."

Mr Maginnity said a change from the Wodonga Racecourse to Ebden Reserve, and some tweaks to routes, meant more proceeds could go to the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund.

"By utilising rail trails to the degree we have, we are hoping to significantly reduce traffic management costs," he said.

Ride committee chair David Dow said Albury North members were already preparing permits in anticipation of the March 13 event, taking advantage of a long weekend.

"We're also trying to get sponsorship raised, as everything we raise will be going to the cancer trust," he said.

"The more people that register, the better off we'll be.

"That's why we've got four rides, from the Bethanga Beast ride which is about 80 kilometres, down to the family ride.

"We know in the past we've had people from outside Albury Wodonga come along, so we want to get the word out to them."

Four ride options will cater for all fitness levels, as well as both road riders and gravel/rail trail enthusiasts:

Since 2012, the Lake Hume Cycle Challenge has raised more than $180,000 and proceeds next year will go to the wellness centre at the AWRCC.
