The 20-year-old edged out playing coach Brianna Renshaw to receive the honour.
Oats has only ever been a Cat and took home a club award while in the junior ranks.
She thanked Renshaw for helping to make her A-grade transition seamless.
"I knew most of the girls and we would train with them occasionally when I was in juniors, so I had a feel for it," Oats said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"Every now and then I would play up when they needed me.
"The group of girls I was playing with were lovely and we had a great coach, so it was a really nice team to play for."
Hannah Kilner won the Cats' B-grade best and fairest, with Brooke Smith and Tahli Bainbridge equal runners-up.
C-grade was taken out by Pia Taylor from Emma Prescott.
