Kaylin Mary Patricia Jauregui Rigney pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm when the matter went before Albury Local Court.
"The injury caused certainly is of concern," defence lawyer Pravinda Pahalawela submitted to magistrate Richard Funston.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mr Pahalawela said it was clear there was "some level of planning" by the 28-year-old Rigney, though asked for leniency by placing her on a conditional release order.
He also asked the court to not convict Rigney.
Police said the 27-year-old victim, who lived in Dick Road, was a close friend of Rigney.
The pair were seated on the gutter outside the victim's home on September 19, about 6.50pm, when the victim asked Rigney to cut her arm.
"The accused used a piece of broken glass and cut in a horizontal direction along the victim's near-right forearm, just below the crease of her elbow," police said.
"The laceration started to bleed more than expected."
The victim immediately phoned Triple-0 for an ambulance.
Rigney and the victim came outside after police arrived on scene about 7.10pm.
"I cut her," Rigney said, "(but) I didn't mean it to be so deep."
Rigney was arrested and taken to Albury police station.
"The accused states she had been drinking alcohol throughout the day and had no intention of harming (her friend)."
Mr Funston placed Rigney on a 12-month conditional release order.
"You're going to get a chance before me today, I'm not going to impose a conviction," he said.
