Brad Jones Racing's main drivers, Nick Percat and Todd Hazelwood, finished sixth and eighth respectively at Mount Panorama in their final race for the team.

"Despite a few safety cars in the last 30 laps or so, which bunched the field up, we just didn't have the outright car speed to challenge the top three." Jones said.

"We were probably chasing a half a second a lap all week to be honest.

"Clearly, any top 10 here is a great effort and the whole team has done an incredible job.

"The pit stops were great, the cars were really well prepared and without those things you're not anywhere, so there's a lot of positives to take away from the weekend.

"Two cars in the top 10 at Bathurst is a really strong result."

Percat qualified eighth in Saturday's top 10 shootout and ran close to the front all day.

Hazelwood overcame early issues to bounce back in the second half of the race to record his first top-10 finish on the mountain.

"I feel we had everything today but that half-a-second that would have put us right in the hunt," Jones said.

Jones' son, Macca finished, 12th and the team's fourth driver, Jack Smith, was 17^th.

However, no-one in the 25-car field could match the eventual winner Chaz Mostert, who fought out an epic, six-hour battle with 2021 Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen, who eventually suffered tyre troubles with six laps to go.

It was Mostert's second victory in the Great Race, having previously won in 2014.

David Reynolds had a day to forget, coming home 11th and was never a serious threat.

A lack of pace and track position early in the race made it hard for the Albury-born racer to get to the leading pack.

Reynolds' pace in the latter stages was solid but being buried the mid-pack made a challenge for the win impossible.

"Our car wasn't that bad," Reynolds said.

"We just couldn't get on terms with the leaders on strategy, so we weren't really in the hunt.

"That's what happens in longer races, though.

"When you qualify badly, you need safety cars and things like that to go your way, and it just didn't happen for us this time."
