Northcoast Productions and the Wodonga Plaza are hosting free competitions for kids, with a finals being held this Saturday.
Wodonga nine-year-old Brett Lamb took part in one of four sessions held on Monday.
He had 20 minutes to work with 500 pieces of Lego, and came second with his horror-themed scene.
"The first thing that came to my mind was a Zombie movie," he said.
"I've liked Lego since I was little."
Brett's mum, Sharni said her son started playing with Duplo and has only become more involved.
"We saw this event on Facebook and decided to come down," she said.
"It's a really great idea."
Production co-ordinator Simon Griffiths takes the challenge all over the country and encouraged residents to get involved.
"We get kids coming back day after day to try to get into that final; there's a lot of excitement," he said.
"It's just a lot of fun and we give away around $800 worth of Lego during the week.
"When we're judging a model, we look for a couple of different things.
"First of all, we've got to take into account the age of the builder
"Then we look for good use of colour, how well it's put together, and also the imagination side of things.
