The Benalla and District Cricket Association is running a “fastest arm” competition on Sunday and is looking for quicks from the North East and Border to attend.
Using a professional sports radar previously set up at the Australian Open tennis and Sheffield Shield cricket, the competition will be held at Gardens Oval as part of the town’s annual Day in the Gardens celebrations.
BDCA president Trevor Saker said the event was open to all ages, with plenty of prizes up for grabs.
“We have signed cricket bats for junior category winners and a cash prize for the fastest bowler,” Saker said.
“There will be age categories for the juniors and an open section for the serious bowlers.
“We are hoping to attract fast bowlers from our neighbouring associations including Cricket Albury-Wodonga, Wangaratta and Shepparton.
“Towards the end of the day, we will get the top three open bowlers back for a shootout.”
Entry is $10 for the open section and $5 for all others sections.
The association will be running the event on the wicket area on the oval, starting about 10am.
