But Hayden has swapped his customary tinny and tongs for skis and a Parker pie.
The former Australian Test opener has spent the past six days in the North East with his wife, Kellie, and three children, and he has documented the whole trip on his Twitter.

Hayden’s #roadtripping diary entries started at Mount Hotham on Thursday where he spent several days skiing and enjoying a “cheeky run”.
Yesterday he covered lots of territory, starting at Beechworth where the kids stocked up on lollies from The Beechworth Sweet Company, before moving heading to the Border and stopping off at Pfeiffer’s winery at Wahgunyah.
“We had no idea he was coming in,” Pfeiffer Wines sales manager and cricket enthusiast Paul Wood said. “He was very friendly.”
Hayden was also impressed, tweeting: “Just been to “pfeiffer wines” at wahgunyah. Such a beautiful friendly winery and amazing countryside.”
On the recommendation of Pfeiffer’s staff, the Haydens’ next stop was Parker Pies at Rutherglen.
“Just visited Rutherglen,” Hayden tweeted. “The land of the BEST pies we have tasted - Parker Pies.”
Hayden, who still plays cricket Indian Premier Cricket with the Chennai Super Kings, has over 12,000 Twitter followers.
