Hats help laugh off those ills

Hats help laugh off those ills

05 Sep, 2008 12:00 AM
NEW “happy hats” work on the theory laughter is the best medicine.

Created by two Albury health professionals, the hats are designed to empower people through the element of humour.

Former nurse turned massage therapist Margot Hays said clients often suffered from poor self-image and low self-esteem due to ill health such as cancer or depression.

“By wearing the hat people can think happy and positive thoughts which boost the immune system, thus promoting healing,” she said.

Ms Hays joined with Wodonga nurse and wholistic life coach Jane Su-Ming Lai to create Albury Happy Hatters Associates and hand-make more than 100 “happy hats” .

The hats, which are available by mail order, will also be on sale on Sunday at the Yackandandah Spring Migration Gay and Lesbian Festival.

Ms Hays said 10 per cent of each hat sold would go to a charity.

For more details, phone Ms Hays on 6021 7401 or Ms Lai on 0422 722 561.
