The 2001 Brownlow medallist was left bemused by several off-ball incidents in his one-off game with Milawa on Saturday, which left him with a sore jaw, a monster welt on his forehead and another team of Bulldogs he has little time for.
“Tarrawingee are an interesting side,” Akermanis said after the game. “They weren’t overly interested in the ball and were happy to just go the man.
“In Tassie, they play hard and tough and fair but they (Tarrawingee) certainly made me earn it.
“I’m happy to earn it but if you want me to report on what happened, then that’s what happened.
“I play the game, I play it fairly, if some people don’t want to then that’s fine, I don’t care, it’s just a game.”
Tarrawingee coach Finton Eames last night rejected Akermanis’ claims but said the club would not comment further.
