The Anglican leader has forged a reputation as a champion for human rights by advocating a wider understanding of gay lifestyles and calling for the ordination of women.
Bishop McIntyre has also criticised the church for discrimination, saying all Christians should support equality.
He will make the trip from his diocese in Gippsland to appear in Albury tonight.
Archdeacon Peter Mac-leod-Miller, of St Matthew’s Church, said the Border community should welcome the opportunity to be challenged by Bishop McIntyre’s message of equality.
“I am blown away by Bishop McIntyre’s commitment to travel the distance to Albury,” Archdeacon Macleod-Miller said yesterday.
Bishop McIntyre’s address, from 7pm to 8pm tonight, is open to anyone.
The address is free of charge and there will be an opportunity to donate to disaster relief.
