The Rural Fire Service said the flames were between Jingellic and Talmalmo with the terrain involved being steep and largely inaccessible.
The is approximately 1.5km south of the Jingellic Trig.
Two helicopters from National Parks are working at bucketing water from the Murray River onto the fire. Four Rural Fire Service crews are on stand-by in the area to also assist.
The fire is believed to have started from the lightening activity in the area of the National Park last night.
No buildings or communities are presently under threat.
Meanwhile, a bushfire near Yackandandah is not posing a threat to nearby communities, the Department of Sustainability and Environment says.
The fire, in the Ellis Lane area of the Baranduda National Park, is now under control.
An advisory message has been issued to residents of Allans Flat, Osbornes Flat, Staghorn Flat and Yackandandah.
DSE says smoke may still be visible from nearby communities and roads.
