The former Australian Idol contestant joined fellow actors Deborah Mailman, Miranda Tapsell and Chris O’Dowd in filming scenes outside the Henty Central B & B which became The Globe Hotel for the day.
The quartet are featuring in The Sapphires which tells the story of an Aboriginal female vocal group discovered by an Irishman played by O’Dowd, who is best known for his role in British television comedy
Producer Rosemary Blight said scenes recorded yesterday centred on a talent quest held at the hotel with a sign draped over the front of the pub promoting the contest and a Reschs Pilsener sign adding to the heritage feel.
Bed and breakfast proprietors Warren and Elaine Heycox watched on as filming extended from 7am to 4.30pm.
Mrs Heycox said her establishment used to be the Central Hotel, but no longer resembled a pub inside.
Ms Blight said interior scenes for the talent quest would be filmed elsewhere in the district with footage being gathered from Corowa, a farm property at Culcairn and church at Morven.
Recording will continue over the next fortnight before the cast and crew head to Asia with the story featuring the Vietnam War performances.
The Sapphires is expected to be released in September-October next year.
