A PILOT has crashed the plane he was testing for purchase at Yarrawonga airport this afternoon.

The single-engine plane landed without its landing gear, landing belly first and sliding about 200m along the landing strip.

There are no injuries and Yarrawonga police said the aircraft was looking "reasonably good under the circumstances".

The plane was for sale and the pilot had just finished several loops around the airport to test it for purchase.

Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene.
