Wild brawl starts in Dean Street

Wild brawl starts in Dean Street

24 Oct, 2008 09:38 AM
POLICE are investigating a series of brawls, involving up to 40 people, which began in Dean Street last night about 7pm.

The fights are understood to have been sparked by a dispute between two families.

Police said the brawlers were mostly teenagers and the violence flowed into West Albury about 10pm.

No serious injuries have been reported to police as yet but officers issued a number of people with infringement notices.

I was an eyewitness to this awful incident and was appalled at the level of violence on display. The attack looked very deliberate and provoked. I was very impressed, though, by how fast the police showed up and how they handled the situation considering there was so much going on…..well done!

I live in west albury and heard the fighting. There were cars driving dangerously everywhere and people screaming. The violence, theft and number of young kids wondering the streets at all hours in west albury is getting out of control. There are school aged kids (i know a 9 year old) that don't attend school at all. Something needs to be done.

A drunken 12 year old and other underage children in a drunken state. no parental control. this is just totally non-aceptable behaviour in a town like albury. how can other neighbours people live in peace amongst these type of people who think this is acceptable behaviour.. THE ONE family plus anyone else that wants to come around to their dept. of housing home party on most nights and end up in the street fighting/brawling amongst themselves even ! disgraceful. So, what will be done ? It can`t go on. Someone in charge stand up to the plate for God`s sake. Don`t just sit behind your desk.

This kind of thing would be much less likely to happen if we had adequate numbers of police patrolling the streets. Sadly, Albury is now being over run with ferals and Dean Street at night resembles a set from the movie Resident Evil rather than a safe place to go and have a good time.
