The clothing maker recently advertised the opening hours of the shop and yesterday Yakka’s Wodonga plant manager Peter Korju said there were no plans to close the shop although there were no long-term guarantees over its future, either.
Mr Korju said Yakka may sell the building in Romet Rd although it was possible a Yakka shop could open elsewhere in Wodonga.
He said the shop, which operates six days a week, employed three part-time and casual staff.
By the end of June however, the factory’s 60 employees — comprising four men and 56 women — will be searching for work.
Early this month Yakka announced the factory, which was involved in making Melbourne Commonwealth Games uniforms, would close with the jobs likely to head offshore.
