Coach Peter White said yesterday Murray had been named in a 38-strong squad and indicated he was keen to play against his former league.
“I have spoken to Brad a few times already and he seems keen to play,” White said.
“I’ll talk to him about the Ovens and Murray and a few other contacts as well.
“It’s always handy to have some knowledge of the opposition.”
Murray has made a strong start to the season at Echuca and is one of many high-profile players in the squad including former Melbourne duo Russell Robertson and Adem Yze, Richmond’s Kayne Pettifer and North Melbourne’s Joel Perry and Ashley Watson.
Former Wangaratta ruckman Paul Kirby is another notable inclusion.
White said the GV would have its first training session tomorrow night.
“It seems all right at this stage,” he said.
“Yze and Robertson and those sort of guys are happy to be in the squad and hopefully it stays together.
“Inter-league squads can change, but the players have been good by making themselves available.”
The O and M has named an original squad of 65 players for the May 22 showdown with coach Robbie Jackson to put his players through their paces for the first time this week as well.
White, a former long-time Kyabram coach, looks to have plenty of goalkicking firepower at his disposal with leading GV goalkicker Jason Eagle and Paul Newman among his options.
Newman was outstanding in last year’s losing team with seven of the GV’s 12 goals.
