The fifth-placed Roos travel to Moyhu on Saturday to face the third-placed Hoppers and Rea said his team needed more avenues to goal to return to the top four.
Former Wangaratta Rovers spearhead Sessions is third on the goalkicking list with 40, but the next-best Roo, Anthony Ciancio, has just 12.
“We need a few more from the midfield,” Rea said yesterday. “We’ve been working hard to get our structure right.
“We’ve tried a few different things — we need to spread the load.”
The Roos, who will wait until the last minute on the fitness of centre half-back Steve Beavis after an ankle injury, will be near full strength.
After winning their first three games, the Roos have dropped two out of three — against fellow contenders Milawa and Whorouly.
Rea wants his side to make a statement against the Hoppers, who have lost one game — away to Bright in Round 5.
“We were pretty disappointed against Milawa and Whorouly,” he said.
“We need to knock off one of the top sides.”
Meanwhile, Whorouly star Kyle Archibald is being investigated for a Round 5 incident with Greta’s Chris Sherratt.
At Gereta’s request, the league has appointed a VCFL investigations officer to look into the incident on May 5.
The officer has 21 days to investigate and report to the league.
Former Yarrawonga big man Archibald can play club and representative football in the meantime.
In other matches, Bonnie Doon hosts Greta; Milawa travels to Goorambat; North Wangaratta hosts Benalla All Blacks; Bright travels to Swanpool; Tatong hosts Glenrowan; and Tarrawingee travels to Whorouly.
