Longmire to be great Swans coach, says Bradshaw

Serving as an assistant under 2005 premiership coach Paul Roos for almost a decade, Bradshaw said Longmire has a thorough understanding of the Sydney game-plan and that knowledge would serve him well in season 2011.

“He’ll go really well,” Bradshaw told The Border Mail.

“He’s been an assistant under ‘Roosy’ (Paul Roos) for about seven or eight years so I don’t think too much will change.

“He might tweak a few things around in terms of the game plan but I think everyone at the club is looking forward to having a fresh start with a new coach.”

A dual-premiership forward with Brisbane, Bradshaw joined the Swans at the end of the 2009 season and the 31-year-old is enjoying his new lifestyle in the harbour city.

“I’m loving it,” Bradshaw said.

“After being at another club for so long it was always going to be a little tough early on the club has made it a lot easier for me.

“It’s a great club with a great bunch of blokes.”

Bradshaw’s 2010 season was plagued by injury and with an altered preseason training program, the veteran forward is hoping to enjoy better fortune on the injury front next year.

“The knee is feeling OK at the moment but I probably won’t do too much training until January,” he said.

“Hopefully I can get it right and play a lot more games next year.”

Signing footballs and posing for photos at the opening of Wodonga’s new Officeworks building, Bradshaw said he was enjoying spending time on the Border before heading back to Sydney for preseason training.

“I’ve been back for a couple of weeks now and I always try to get back once or twice a year when I can,” he said.

“It’s always good to help out the local businesses as well so I am enjoying being back in the area.

“I remember growing up and always loving it whenever footballers came to town.”
