The Roos premiership player, who last played for the Cats as a teenager, will meet Corowa-Rutherglen’s committee tonight hoping to be cleared by the June 30 deadline.
Joyce, 27, was dropped three weeks ago for disciplinary reason and says he’s hoping for a fresh start back at his old club.
“Finley is really going places at the moment and I’ve probably been a bit stale at Corowa I think,” Joyce said yesterday.
“I really needed a change in my footy and it probably took the things which have happened over the past few months for me to realise that.
“I probably need to rediscover that hunger.”
Joyce left Finley in the late 1990s for stints in the VFL, South Australia and in the O and M, and has been an impressive servant at representative level for the O and M and Victoria at the Australian Country Championships.
His father Trevor was a member of Finley’s last Murray league premiership in 1983.
Under new coach Greg Brain the Cats are currently in sixth place on the Murray league table and are a chance to break their finals drought.
Veteran Damian Sexton carries on to defying his years and Brendan Brain booted six majors in the club’s win against Rumbalara last week.
Ex-Murray Bushranger Nick Braybon continued to recapture his best form while Matt Worland, Joel Richardson and Matthew Jackson have been good.
The Lions pushed the Purples to the limit last week but will again be without its star forward Brenton Cooper and Glen Coghlan (both injured).
Rob Lamberti remains in doubt due to a calf injury.
Mulwala will be boosted within the next month with Nathan Trezise, a former Murray Bushranger, All Australian at under-18 level and an interleague player with Geelong.
Trezise, the son of ex-Carlton player and Yarrawonga coach and John Trezise, has played the past two seasons with Labrador in the Queensland AFL.
Deniliquin should come back from its shock-loss to Moama when it shapes up against Cobram.
David Lucas made his return to Nathalia’s line-up in the Purples win over the Lions last week, and should be too strong for Moama, while Barooga will be too strong for Rumbalara.
Echuca United should continue its great form against Tocumwal, while Numurkah should overpower Congupna.
