Thousands of Border residents and visitors said goodbye to 2009 and hello to 2010 at the eight-race program.
Albury harness racing president Jeff Hogan was happy with the large crowd.
“Earlier we had a little shower of rain and now that it has gone people are coming in droves,” he said.
“There are families on picnic rugs all having their evening meal; it’s a very nice atmosphere.”
Mother and daughter Marg Doubleday and Belinda Hudson, both of Thurgoona, enjoyed the relaxing night with friends and family.
Meanwhile, Wangaratta’s Lizzie Wallace, 15, travelled from Wangaratta to welcome in the new year with Albury’s Liam Carey,17.
The night finished with a spectacular bang as fireworks lit up the sky.
